Our History |
Dr.'s Joe and Julie Grohs founded the practice in 1981 and built the current hospital facility in 1985. They met at veterinary school in Pullman, WA at Washington State University and were married in their final year of school. After graduation in 1981 they came to Alaska (back home for Dr Julie) and started a field practice caring for horses in Southcentral Alaska. Within a few years, seeing the need for a hospital facility for horses in the area and wanting to expand their practice to include dogs and cats, they purchased property in Chugiak and built the current hospital building. Most of the construction work was done by Dr Joe with a little help from Dr Julie :). These days when they have time off from the practice, Drs Joe and Julie can be found training and competing with their Labrador Retrievers in field events, rally classes and dog shows.
